The Port of Astoria has a new commissioner
|

It took them seven votes, but Port of Astoria commissioners select Pier 39 developer Floyd Holcom as the replacement for Bernie Bjork, who resigned earlier this year. Commissioners first voted for different candidates, before deadlocking five more times. Commissioners Kathy Sanders and Dan Hess going back and forth between Seaside businessman Dan Brown and fisheries specialist John Veenendahl, while commissioners Bill Hunsinger and Larry Pfund voted for Holcom. Eventually, Hess changed his vote, and Holcom was selected. He will be sworn in at a later port commission meeting. |
