The Seaside city council hears first and second readings of an ordinance to adopt a method of assessing systems development charges for new development in the city. The charges would specifically be used by the city to pay for park improvements and wastewater treatment system improvements, as an increasing population impacts both parks and city infrastructure. Seaside’s population including tourists is expected to grow from 13,000 to 18,000 by the year 2025. Actual fee increases will be considered at a future meeting. Charges were last updated in the early 1990s.
