Port negotiations with Warrenton Fiber continue

The Port of Astoria negotiates with Martin Nygaard of Warrenton Fiber to provide him with an easement or sell him the right of way to provide access including a bridge over a slough to his commercial property near Costco.  The new road and bridge is an $800,000 to $1-million investment alone.  Nygaard to pay for the improvements than transfer ownership of the road to the City of Warrenton.  The new access makes the port’s adjacent property more valuable. Nygaard would reimburse the port for its legal expenses and both the port and Nygaard would share the use of Airport Road for full access.

ODOT reportedly is not willing to consider road access behind the Shilo Inn…at what is already a congested  intersection.  The port commission expected to move forward with the agreement at its regular meeting next Tuesday.  The number of stores planned by the developer or what they are has not yet been disclosed.
