Highway 101 wreck near Arch Cape Saturday

One person was seriously injured Saturday afternoon when his car crossed the centerline on Highway 101 about three miles north of Arch Cape and collided with a 28-foot motorhome occupied by a Washington State couple.

On July 19, 2008 at approximately 3:10 p.m. a Buick LeSabre driven by KYLE SCHLIP, age 22, from Manzanita, was northbound on Highway 101 near milepost 33 when, for an unknown reason, it crossed the centerline and collided with a southbound 28-foot motorhome driven by RODNEY LEDBETTER, age 45, from Sedro-Woolley, Washington.

SCHLIP was not using safety restraints and was seriously injured. He was transported by LifeFlight to Legacy Emanuel Hospital.

RODNEY LEDBETTER and his wife, LORI LEDBETTER, age 48, were using safety restraints and were not injured.

Highway 101 was closed about two hours.

Oregon State Police troopers from the Astoria Area Command office are continuing the investigation. Cannon Beach Police Department, Cannon Beach Fire & Rescue, and ODOT assisted at the scene.
