PLEASE NOTE THAT THE TRANSFER STATION WILL BE CLOSED FOR NORMAL OPERATIONS DUE TO SPECIAL CLEANUP EVENT. THE EVENT IS ONLY OPEN TO RESIDENTS WITHIN IN THE CITY LIMITS OF ASTORIA, WHO ARE WESTERN OREGON WASTE CUSTOMERS.

The 2008 Spring Community clean up event is scheduled for Sunday, October 12th.Everyone is encouraged to help to make our City more attractive. Clean your yards, sidewalks, and pick up trash - anything to help clean up our City.

The event will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the transfer station on Williamsport Road. The following policy has been adopted by the City Council to increase efficiency and cut down waiting time:

Two forms of I.D. will be required, a Western Oregon Waste garbage bill and a driver's license.

Residential trash will be accepted at no charge to residents. No industrial, commercial, or construction waste will be accepted. Refrigerators, appliances, and tires will be charged the normal rates.

Loads of trash will be limited by vehicle size. No vehicles larger than a pickup truck. Passenger cars, vans, and utility trailers (up to 10 feet long) will be accepted. Dump trucks, moving vans, and construction trailers will not be permitted.

Residents are encouraged to recycle. Scrap metal, TV’s, computer monitors, etc.

Residents will be limited to two trips.

Note: Whereas, solid waste service in Astoria is no longer mandatory, this event is limited to current Western Oregon Waste customers.
