State officials this morning lifted a health advisory for Cannon Beach that was issued Tuesday following a sewage spill. An estimated 85,000 gallons of untreated sewage spilled onto the beach from a storm water outfall north of Tolovana Wayside, according to the Oregon Department of Human Services. City workers from Cannon Beach cleaned up the affected area, but as a precautionary measure DHS issued a health advisory warning the public not to have contact with the water at the beach. Samples collected from the ocean near the spill site showed the water does not pose a higher-than-normal risk from waterborne fecal bacteria, DHS announced Wednesday.
