The Astoria city council bestows the Dr. Edward Harvey Historic Preservation Award on the owners of five commercial properties. The residential award goes to Mike and Gigi Crowley, who restored their house and garage at 619 Grand Avenue. The outstanding community partnership award goes to the Lower Columbia Preservation Society.
Among the commercial property awards, Rosemary Baker-Monaghan accepts the award on behalf of Liberty Theater Restoration, Inc., which has successfully restored the interior and exterior of the theater at 12th and Commercial downtown.
Steve and Debra Mansfield accept the commercial property award for their ongoing work to restore the Osburn/O’Brien Building at 14th and Duane.
Award recipient Warren Williams has restored the Spexarth Building at 8th and Commercial. Williams credits Andrew Olsen with doing most of the restoration.
River pilot Stacy Pritchard receives the commercial property award for the restoration of the old pilots’ building at 14th street and Marine Drive.
And Ryan Davis, Shawn Helligso, and Mark Carey accept the commercial property award for restoration of the Red Building at 20 Basin Street near the Port of Astoria.
